A couple of online offerings recently
launched in the aged care space.
Alzheimer's Australia Vic has launched a blog, Dementia Resources, to showcase the many
resources available from its library. Each post focuses on a specific topic. For example, a recent
popular post was on 'The Montessori Approach for people with dementia'. Materials such as
books, websites, DVDs, documents and publications available for free download so those who
cannot visit the library can have access.
Rod Hunt is a prolific aged care blogger and tweeter who, in the lead-up to the federal election,
wrote on issues such as the new federal government's policy on ageing, and who might be
appointed the new minister for ageing. In Hunt's latest post he proposes an 'aged care twitter
challenge'. Twitter is one way of opening up the sector to the community and encouraging
conversation, he says. Hunt tweets as @rodhunt
"AN AGED CARE Financing Authority report released
in July found 30 per cent of aged care providers failed
to break even in the preceding year. If you can't break
even, you can't cover the cost of unaffordable wage rates.
Unions knew this, but they missed the opportunity to strike
a more workable agreement," said Martin Laverty, CEO of
Catholic Health Australia, of the Workforce Supplement.

card from their mobile phone or iPad. The
Medicare app is the sixth in a range of apps
developed for families, students, older
Australians and job seekers.
